High ResolutionOff my first roll through my new (old) Olympus Stylus. Such a rad little camera and I’m really happy with the images it produces. Think my kit is finally finished for the time being.

Myles and his adventure!

This weekend just gone, one of my good friends embarked on a journey up along the east coast in his panel van, not stopping until he reaches Cape York or somewhere around there. He is traveling in the van by himself with only cameras and film as company. He got friends and family to donate some cash for film, taking only a Cambo 4x5, Mamiya C3, Nikon FM2 and a Ricoh GR1.

All up I think he bought 170+ rolls of film and is not returning home until it has all been used. We had a nice little going away party for him on the Saturday so I decided to take along my RZ and test out the Polaroid back. I’ll be uploading some of my more favourite ones later, separately.

If you’d like to know more about Myles’ trip follow him here and keep updated:

Tony Curran’s Exhibition “Finding Arthur Wicks”

On the Thursday just gone (27th of Oct), I had the oppurtunity to shoot the opening of the culmination Tony Curran’s Honours research at CSU in Wagga. This exhibition is a mixed media portrait installation following Tony’s process of ‘getting to know’ renowned Australian artist Arthur Wicks. This exhibition is part of Curran’s research into Portraiture Since the White Cube.
This exhibition and the works take the original ideas and constraints of your typical white cube gallery and challenge how works inside these ‘white cubes’ are normally hung and shown. As well as this, the works within this exhibition challenge our preconceived ideas and thoughts of what a portrait should and shouldn’t be. These ideas also toy with how portraits should be displayed. All in all, this is an excellent display of mixed media portraiture that I urge all of you to take the time to look at.

If you can’t make it to Wagga, where the work is on show at the H.R. Gallop Gallery in Boorooma Street, then please visit these sites for more of Tony’s work and some of his in depth writings on the nature of art.http://www.tonycurran.net/

I will also have a series of images and a video in the coming weeks showing both the works and opening of the exhibition!

High ResolutionShot two images on FP4 5x4 negs about a month ago. This was the one that worked and even then it was wrong. Shot this backwards unto the non-emulsion side, hence the average tones and soft focus. 5x4 black and white loading and processing is a long, long process. Lots of time and thought needs to go into the image, then a lot of time and care needs to go into the processing. I think this will be a project I’ll delve into when Uni is over with for this year.
